10 Step Program

Step One. in becoming the girl you will never love -

Move far far away, so wandering hands become prone.
A result of having nothing within reach.



                    I. When I lay beside you on slides
                       and lean against you on rooftops,
                       can't you hear my body thrumming,
                       "Kiss me"?



Step Two. in becoming the girl you'll have no problem forgetting -

Constantly surround myself with people who aren't you
and stop being alone.



                    II. When I lay silently in my bed
                        holding my breath in hopes I won't
                        shake apart, can't you hear my
                        heart screaming, "Save Me"?



Step Three. in becoming just that girl. Just that one girl.

Pretend all those gloriously terribly desired mistakes didn't happen.
Those tears and kisses and secrets all didn't happen.



                    III. Oh...but didn't I tell you?

                          You'll always be that one boy.
